Summary

The Alpine Retreat is an easy 2km walk to the shores of Lake Bled. Offering spacious accommodation in a centuries-old, traditional farm house, that simply oozes character. With balcony, sunny south terrace and a shaded north-facing garden there are mountain views all round.

With free parking and wifi, this house suits families or small groups (max 6) seeking the peace and tranquillity of rural village life, with forest, hillside and riverside walks (Vintgar Gorge) from the doorstep.

Notes

This house is in a quiet village setting and is therefore not suitable for noisy groups. It is best for families or respectful adults who enjoy forest and hillside walls from the doorstep, wild swimming in the nearby lakes, or simply relaxing in the garden and taking in the magnificent mountain backdrop. Zasip is a active dairy farming village, some guest may not be used to country aromas.

Access

With the exception of the basement boiler room and secure store rooms, guests will have access to the whole house.

Transit

Although there are bus and train services from the village the use of a car, to explore the area's wonders, is recommended.

Interaction

The owners will not be at the house during guest stays.

Neighbourhood

The Alpine Retreat is sited in a well serviced village, with shop and restaurant / bar. Located beside the church at the heart of the active dairy farming village of Zasip, you will feel at the centre of village comings and goings.

Sat on a ridge with commanding southerly views, and Bled Castle in clear view, you are just a few kilometres from Lake Bled, with all its tourist facilities, yet being in Zasip, on the doorstep of some wonderful countryside, you feel more in touch with the local way of life.

There are some amazing walks nearby, including a circuit to Vintgar Gorge, which is within easy striding distance of the doorstep.

The Alpine Retreat is both our second home and a professionally managed holiday rental apartment. For you this means that you can expect to find everything you need for a comfortable stay with the reassurance that help is close at hand should the need arise.

ADVENTURE ACTIVITIES & LOCAL ATTRACTIONS
Bookable in Bled- For the adrenaline junkies among you there is a range of adventure activities, including: river rafting, canyoning and hire of electric mountain bikes. Braver souls may wish to try the new zip line experience (with 5 river crossings) - it starts a short walk from the house - would you or anyone you know have the courage?

For those who appreciate a more sedate pace- take a trip round Lake Bled in a horse drawn carriage, jump on a pletna (gondola) boat to Lake Bled’s monastic island or book a scenic flight from the airfield at nearby Lesce.

The Vintgar Gorge, another of Slovenia’s top travel destinations, with its kilometre long cliff-hugging board walk and tumbling waterfalls makes a delightful walk from the house.

Radovljica’s old square is a C17 delight, with fine dining, delicious ice creams , a centuries old ginger bread factory, a museum of bee keeping (with its own hive) and its very own chocolatier!

Further afield, but still do-able as day trips, are: Ljubljana - with its castle and old town area; the world renowned cave systems at Postojna and Scocan; the coastal town of Piran (once a Venetian settlement); and the Lipanca Stud farm with its Vienna school of riding.

MORE ABOUT THE HOUSE…
This spacious traditional farmhouse with meadow-style garden and south-facing balcony comfortably accommodates groups of up to six and boasts wide-ranging mountain and castle views.

The ground floor has a well-equipped kitchen with large dining table; a comfortable evening lounge; a library – stocked with books, DVDs and games; as well as a bathroom and a cloak room.

The upstairs accommodation includes two double bedrooms, one usually arranged as a twin, the main bathroom, and a double attic room with two single beds and a play area– ideal for children.

Facilities are extensive and include all the modern conveniences you would expect from quality farmhouse holiday accommodation.

The house will have been freshly prepared for your holiday with beds made and towels provided- allowing you to relax as soon as you arrive. Should you find you need anything during your stay our local agent is there to help.

With the village shop and restaurant close at hand, and being located at the heart of the old town of the village of Zasip, you will find that everything you need from day to day is nearby.

Whether you are new to the area or a frequent visitor, our own guides of local walks and restaurants will help you get the most from your stay. The featured walks are all easy and have been chosen to combine minimal effort with maximum scenic reward. Most of our suggested restaurants are tucked away in the small villages surrounding Bled. All are culinary, architectural or scenic gems.
